It’s been less than a month since we made our first delivery — 10 face shields to a COVID-19 unit in Mississauga. Since then, we’ve been able to print and deliver over 750 more face shields to health care workers across the Greater Toronto Area!
This past Friday, 200 face shields were sanitized, assembled, packaged, and delivered to our brave frontline workers. We delivered 100 shields to Markham Stouffville Hospital, and 100 shields to the York Region Paramedics. These deliveries were carried out by a volunteer from one of our partner organizations, Pharm Against COVID-19.
This great progress has been made possible through the spectacular work of our volunteers. In this short time, we’ve been able to mobilize our resources and expertise to establish an efficient network of 3D printers, and refine our sanitization and delivery procedures.
As we continue to grow and receive more urgent requests, we are looking to expand our team of dedicated volunteers. Currently, we are seeking volunteers for the following roles:
- 3D Printing Volunteers — Register online here.
- Fundraising Coordinator — Please email your resume to email@example.com
- Driver Dispatch & Route Scheduling — Please email your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Sanitization Facility Manager — Please email your resume to email@example.com
We wouldn’t be able to get these face shields in the hands of health care workers if it wasn’t for our donors, either. The funds we receive supply the plastic we need to produce these shields. We still have several active requests from clinics, hospitals, and LTCs that we are working hard to fulfill. You can donate to our efforts on our GoFundMe page here.
We are so grateful for the support we have received from the community, in all shapes and forms. Even though we are living in times of great uncertainty, the unity and perseverance displayed by our community has been a very welcome and inspiring constant. We’re very excited to further refine our processes and get more PPE in the hands of those who need it most!
