We’ve been delivering more and more boxes — as of today, we’ve delivered over 650 shields to health care workers in the GTA! We’re excited to tell you more about these deliveries, but for the time being, we want to shine a light on one of our wonderful partners, NewMakeIt.
With the call to action to combat COVID-19, NewMakeIt has answered by establishing manufacturing capabilities to produce PPE items, and calling on their members to volunteer time on the production line. With the generous donation of materials from the Newmarket Public Library, as well as 3D printers on loan from the Newmarket Public Library, the King Township Public Library and the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library, we are on track to produce 20,000 face shields.
Founded in 2016, NewMakeIt is an organization with a mission to make communities better by being an outlet for creativity and innovation. Their facility with its array of equipment and programs enables anyone to get involved in making.
NewMakeIt is located in Newmarket, Ontario and is a not-for-profit organization that is made possible through support from:
- Government of Ontario
- The Regional Municipality of York
- Town of Newmarket
NewMakeIt & The Ontario PPE Collective
NewMakeIt is one of two PPE production facilities, along with STEM Minds, to support the efforts of the Ontario PPE Collective and its volunteer corps of 3D printer hobbyists. Our effort has partnered with the Town of Newmarket to establish a PPE Intake & Sanitization Facility for the assembly, cleaning, packaging and distribution of the face shields.
We are really excited to be working with NewMakeIt. They have been instrumental to our growth, and you can be, too. Currently, we are seeking volunteers for the following roles:
