A Peek at our Production Facility at STEM Minds

With requests for over 6000 face shields, we’ve been busy printing away. Our volunteers are printing face shields around the clock, with our support team coordinating sanitization procedures and deliveries. Our team, which has now grown to a group of over 35 community partners and volunteers, actually started as a joint initiative between Art in Flight Photography and STEM Minds Corp.

About STEM Minds

STEM Minds is a K-12 STEM content creator and program provider for both in-person and online #FearlesslLearning, designed by expert educators and technical professionals and supported by research and education pedagogy.

Whether your child thinks they’re the next hit YouTuber, won’t stop talking about their future as a video game designer, or is convinced they are going to make their fortune as a computer engineer, their holistic range of programs offers youth of all ages the opportunity to explore the exciting world of STEM and get hands-on experience with the passions they already have (and the new one’s they discover!).

With a focus on hands-on, project-based learning through programs ranging from robotics and coding to mechatronics, video game design to eSports, app and web development to AI,  there is truly something for every child to build their confidence, their skills, and a solid foundation for success in the 21st century.

STEM Minds & The Ontario PPE Collective

As STEM Minds shifts to virtual programming, they have converted its headquarters into a fully-fledged production center for this initiative. As a BCorp certified business, they are committed to giving back to the local community and support all those who reside and work in it! There are currently 6 3D printers and an Epilog laser cutter running almost endlessly to produce and assemble the shields. Special thanks to partner Holy Trinity School for adding their printers to the fleet!

Just weeks ago, STEM Minds was among the few partners in this joint effort. But our team is growing by the day, and we are still in need of support from the community. Currently, we are seeking more volunteers:

  • Intake & Sanitization Facility Volunteers (located in Newmarket)
  • 3D Printing Volunteers
  • Volunteer Coordinator

You can help us spread the word by following and sharing our social media channels, and make a donation to help us purchase the supplies we need to get PPE in the hands of health care workers.
